Our story

Built around the idea of play.

A community cultural event center in downtown Waterville — a home for theater, music, comedy, and every kind of artful joy.

Who we are

The Playhouse At Waterville Station is a community cultural event center at 17 Railroad Square, right in the heart of downtown Waterville, Maine. We provide two rentable venues — The Theater and The Auditorium — that host public performances and private events year-round.

We're built around the idea of artful play. Play can be acting, singing, comedy, music, recreation, education, or any other form of artistry or culture that makes our hearts joyful. Whatever brings your community together on a stage or in a shared room — we want to help make it happen.

The Playhouse is home to two resident companies. Aqua City Actors Theatre (ACAT) produces intimate, ambitious theater on our stage throughout the year. The Elm City Community Music School offers lessons, recitals, and performances for musicians of every age and level, keeping music alive and accessible in the Kennebec Valley.

Beyond our resident companies, we welcome outside producers, performers, teachers, nonprofits, and neighbors who want to rent our spaces. Whether you're staging a full production, throwing a reception, hosting a workshop, or gathering your community for something new, The Playhouse is here to support the work.

Event venue rentals are provided by Blue Absolem, LLC. Tickets, concessions, and operations are provided by Go Ask Alice, LLC.
